Assessor Announces Filing Period for Widows/Widowers

January 6th kicked off the filing period allowing qualified widows and widowers to apply for a property tax exemption. Of course like with all things, there are limits to your income and property value required in order to qualify for the exemption.  Also, the loss of your spouse must have occurred while a resident in Arizona.

The end of the filing period is February 28th.

In order to begin the application process, you must apply in person at one of our three office locations in Florence, Casa Grande or Apache Junction.

What Are the Qualifications?
  • You must be a PERMANENT RESIDENT of Arizona
  • Total Net Assessed valuation in Arizona cannot exceed $27,498
  • Income from all sources, excluding social security, cannot exceed $33,722
  • If children under 18 years of age reside in household, income cannot exceed $40,456

Documents Required with Applications
  • Copy of Death Certificate (Certified/Original)
  • 2019 Arizona State Income Tax Return
  • Copy of the prior year's tax bill or valuation card of all properties in Arizona
  • License plate numbers for all motor vehicles
  • Title/Tax bill
  • ARIZONA DRIVERS LICENSE OR AZ ID
