Pinal County is proud to announce the appointment of Anu Jain as the new Director of Air Quality. Jain, who has been serving as the Interim Director since July, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

Anu Jain's journey with the Air Quality Department began in 2002. Over the past 21 years, she has demonstrated her dedication and skill, starting as a Permit Engineer and later ascending to the position of Air Quality Permitting Manager. Her consistent progression through the department highlights her deep understanding and commitment to air quality management.

As the Director, Jain will oversee a team of 14 staff members, steering the department's efforts to maintain and improve air quality in the county. Her responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting air quality levels, managing permits for various projects, and enforcing compliance with air quality regulations. She will report directly to Deputy County Manager Himanshu Patel, who expressed his satisfaction with Jain's promotion, noting her career-long dedication to the county and the respect she commands within her department and across Pinal County.

Prior to joining the county, Jain gained valuable experience in the private sector as an environmental engineer. She is also an alumnus of Arizona State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

Jain's appointment as Director of Air Quality is a testament to Pinal County's commitment to promoting capable and experienced individuals from within. She is the second long-serving staff member to be elevated to a directorial position this month, following Merissa Mendoza's appointment as Public Health Director.

The Pinal County Air Quality Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the community by providing essential services. These include monitoring and forecasting air quality levels, issuing permits for various projects and activities, enforcing compliance with air quality regulations, and planning and implementing regulatory actions. The department also administers the mandated Travel Reduction Program in Pinal County's portion of "Area A," further emphasizing its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

Jain's extensive experience and proven leadership within the Air Quality Department position her as an ideal candidate to lead these critical efforts. Her appointment is a positive step forward for Pinal County, reflecting its dedication to maintaining a healthy environment and the high standards of its public service departments.
