They execute and return writs of restitution (evictions), serve orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment, summon jurors, serve criminal and civil summons and subpoenas, provide judicial security, levy and return writs of execution (seize property to satisfy judgments), store personal property levied on & conduct constable sales of property levied on to satisfy judgments. (The last three being the least common of constable duties).
Victor "Elvis" Rodas is running for Constable here in our precinct for our Justice Court that is located in Apache Junction. He is the Independent candidate that is running against the Republican candidate, John Acton. Acton has proven to be a dishonest person of bad judgment and character. What is alarming is the reality that because Rodas is not affiliated with any political party as an Independent candidate there is a real possibility that John Acton could be voted in as our next constable. Constables don't serve "the republican way" or "the democrat way" they serve everybody. They also do not make laws or set policy. Constables serve legal process under oath, how can we trust John Acton now? What would that do to the credibility of our justice court?
Rodas has funded his entire campaign by himself other than that his mom paid for half of his signs. The finance reports are available online. Acton spent almost twice the amount for his Primary election alone. The Sheriff called on Acton to withdraw as an urgency because the constable often works with the sheriff's deputies. Independents don't receive monetary party support because of GOP laws. This isn't about politics, it's about ethics. Your vote here is about maintaining the integrity of our Justice Court. In this Constable race we all need to think about the effect of our vote and vote for the right person, not for or against a party.
