Expectant Mothers Can Volunteer for Free Ultrasounds at Central Arizona College
Central Arizona College is looking for pregnant women to volunteer for free ultrasound scans, done by students in its sonography program at the Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction.
Volunteers can be at any stage of pregnancy, from the first weeks through full term, and they get to see their baby on screen. Students training to become sonographers do the scans while experienced faculty guide them, and there is no cost to the volunteer.
The scans are for teaching. Dr. Khalid Hawwary, who directs the program, said they do not replace routine prenatal care, and the college asks volunteers to talk with their doctor before taking part.
Appointments are limited, and the college is asking anyone interested to reach out soon. Every appointment is in Apache Junction, not at the college's San Tan Valley Campus on East Bella Vista Road. The Superstition Mountain Campus is where the college opened its Allied Health building in January 2025, and sonography is one of the programs housed there.
