Combs Center for Success (CCS), an alternative education campus within the J.O. Combs Unified School District, has been recognized at both the state and national level for its work supporting students in non-traditional learning environments.

The campus recently received an "A" letter grade from the Arizona Department of Education and was also named an Alternative School of Distinction by the National Alternative Education Association. The national recognition followed a successful Cognia accreditation review in 2024, highlighting the school's academic quality and student-centered approach.

Combs Center for Success serves students who benefit from smaller class settings and more flexible learning options. The campus includes three distinct programs:

• Combs Center for Success High School, which focuses on credit recovery through a full-day schedule. Students complete self-paced Edgenuity coursework, participate in blended electives, and receive additional support through an advisory program designed to promote college and career readiness.
• CCS FLEX, which offers flexible scheduling options for students who need a less traditional structure.
• Combs Online School for Success, a fully online program designed for students balancing school with work, family, or other responsibilities. Students meet weekly hour requirements and receive one-on-one support from a mentor.

Students enrolled at CCS are also able to take part in EVIT programs, JROTC, athletics, and extracurricular activities through Combs High School, allowing them to stay connected to broader district opportunities.

District leaders say CCS is built on the idea that every student's path looks different. Whether a student needs to recover a single credit or complete most of their graduation requirements, Combs Center for Success is focused on helping students earn their diploma and move forward with confidence.
