Uncle Bears Grill and Bar - a Doggie's Paradise

When I went into Uncle Bears Grill and Bar, and saw the peanut shells scattered on the floor, and heard the noise, I knew it had to be a fun place.

It was a doggie’s paradise with pictures of patron’s pet dogs filling the walls and dividers.  The peanuts on the table were in a doggie’s dish.

Where I sat, I had a great view of the mountains.  It was a day with fascinating clouds which framed the mountains and made a beautiful scene.  I also had a view of three big screen TV’s.  I could watch three sports at once, hockey, baseball and basketball.

Welcomed Changes at the Terrace Restaurant

I don't get a chance to get out with the guys often, but when my buds Bruce (A-1 Hand Handyman) and Jaymel (Anytime Auto Glass) said "let's go to the Terrace, they have dollar tacos tonight", I just couldn't refuse. This was an especially long day for me. Monday nights I usually don't get much sleep. It's often that I'm up till 2-3am preparing sales tips for my San Tan Leads Tuesday morning meeting. After only a few hours of sleep I was really looking forward to finishing my day with a cold brew, so Bruce's invite could not have come at a better time.

Watch the Annual Perseid meteor shower this weekend

Veteran astrophotographer Roberto Porto snapped this spectacular view of a Perseid meteor over Mount Tiede National Park in the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa on Aug. 11, 2012 during the peak of the 2012 Perseid meteor shower. The Milky Way and rock arch Zapata de la Reina (Queen's Shoe) are visible.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the annual August Perseid meteor shower probably ranks as the all-time favorite meteor shower of the year and with clear skies expected and the moon setting well before midnight, the stage is set for the best meteor shower of the year for local astronomy fans. This major shower takes place during the lazy, hazy days of summer, when many families are on vacation. And what could be more luxurious than taking a siesta in the heat of the day and watching this summertime classic in the relative coolness of night?

Although city lights will interfere with the amazing light show, San Tan Valley residents, who are already miles from urban light pollution should have optimum conditions and may see as many as 90 meteors per hour.

No matter where you live worldwide, the 2013 Perseid meteor shower will probably be at its best on the nights of August 11-12 and/or August 12-13.
