At Ranch Elementary in the J.O. Combs School District, POPS (Program for Outstanding Preschool Students) classrooms are filled with preschool students that receive special education services, as well as typically developing peers. The peer models are important to the program as they model social skills and language for the other students. The POPS program utilizes the O.W.L. (Opening the World of Learning) curriculum, the Early Learning Standards, and Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment to plan and implement instruction within the classroom.

Arizona Autism Charter School (AZACS), the state’s first approved tuition-free charter school focused on children with autism, celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting and playground unveiling yesterday, April 30th.
