On April 27, Poston Butte High School and the Florence Unified School District were notified that Poston Butte High School was named an “A+ School of Excellence” by the Arizona Educational Foundation.

On December 12th, Poston Butte High School will become the only school in the state of Arizona to move completely to Google Classroom and to fully implement google in all classrooms.

At J.O. Combs Unified School District, students in the Program for Outstanding Preschool Students (POPS) enjoy a variety of hands on activities in the classroom. The classrooms are filled with preschool students that receive special education services, in addition to typically developing peers who are in the classroom as peer models. The peer models have a job and that is to model appropriate behavior and language for the other students in the class.

With a smile and a few words of inspiration, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu presented a check for $500 to Central Arizona College’s Criminal Justice Club at the college’s administration of justice program (AJS) luncheon.

The event was held at CAC’s Signal Peak Campus on Friday, April 27.

Just when you thought renting items became a thing of the past, a new innovation has swept across Central Arizona College’s bookstores that are operated by Barnes & Noble.

Students now can rent their textbooks, saving more than 50 percent of what it would cost to purchase a brand new copy. The conveniences are unending - students can rent in-store or online, and the textbooks are available for pick-up or delivery. The bookstores also accept financial aid.

Ranch Elementary was thrilled to further enhance their College and Career Readiness focus by inviting Ms. Kimberly Dean, a parent and a commercial airline pilot, to share her career as a part of Ranch’s live morning announcements.

Pre-registration for Central Arizona College’s English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA or ESL) classes will start on Thursday, Aug. 2.

Students should preregister at any one of CAC’s 10 locations in Pinal County and must show proof of legal presence in the United States.

In preparation for the new academic year that begins in August, Central Arizona College students now may register online, over the phone, or in person for one of eight orientations available at five locations across Pinal County as well as online.

Ranch kindergartners had the privilege of visiting the Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa.

Ranch Elementary second grade students just wrapped up a three month study of scientific research.

Students first participated in a school science experiment where they tested "Does Sound Play a Role in Concentration."

The students were given a family homework assignment. The students selected a story book that they wanted to read. Together the family read the book and discussed the events of the story with a focus on the main character in the story.

The next part of the assignment is where the creativity began. Each student needed to transform a pumpkin into the main character of the storybook without carving the pumpkin.

Central Arizona College anticipates welcoming new students and faculty from abroad.

Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, again will be sending a visiting professor to teach at CAC during this coming fall semester. Professor Hao Lixia, who is part of the English teaching faculty in the NEU Foreign Studies College, will arrive in time for the fall semester.

Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, John Huppenthal, spent some time Monday morning at Poston Butte High School. During a school wide assembly he was able to see and hear how "Bronco Strong" the students and faculty really are. He watched the cheer and pom squads perform, listened to the band play and even got to watch the principal, Dr Tim Richards, run around the basketball court encouraging half the students to yell "Bronco" and the other half to yell "Strong". It was quite a high energy assembly, but what was it all about?

On May 4th, the Florence Unified School District was informed that Ryan Arbon, Senior at Poston Butte High School, was named a United States Presidential Scholar.

On March 14, Poston Butte High School Varsity Football Coach Paul Moro received the “Frank Kush Lifetime Achievement Coaching Award” from the National Football Foundation. 

The Mountain Vista Middle School Wolverines again had the opportunity to celebrate homecoming week, September 24-28, 2012.  The Wolverine Student Council planned spirit week activities all week:

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – Central Arizona College’s Signal Peak Campus will be the location of the latest Rocktacular on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

With CAC’s Don P. Pence Center for Visual & Performing Arts undergoing extensive renovations, the show will be held in the plaza in front of the campus’ Student Services (M) Building.

The concert will showcase the talents of students in the college’s entertainment industry technology (EIT) program’s performance skills class. In addition, students from the program’s songwriting class will perform.

With demand increasing for trained pub­lic safety personnel, Central Arizona College is poised to capitalize on the surging growth industry following an extensive evaluation of its emergency services, fire science and law enforcement training programs.

In the spring the director positions for Central Arizona Regional Law Officers Training Academy and for CAC’s fire sci­ence/ emergency medical services program became vacant, creating a unique oppor­tunity to do an internal study of the entire public safety program.

Central Arizona College invites the community to come together and commemorate Black History Month.

Remembering the Past and Shaping the Future: Black History Month Celebration will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on The Green at the Signal Peak Campus. The campus is located at 8470 N Overfield Rd. between the cities of Coolidge and Casa Grande.
