J.O. Combs Leadership Camp

The student Leadership Camp is a yearly event that exposes students who possess leadership qualities to leadership training facilitated by student leaders from Combs High School.  The camp is a wonderful opportunity for young teens to be involved in outdoor and indoor activities to foster and develop their leadership skills as they strive to become strong positive role models for other young adolescents.

J.O. Combs High School Band students competed this past Saturday in the annual regional auditions and qualified for the Central Region Honor Band and Orchestra.  The students listed below will next participate in the All-Regional High School Honor Festival of Performance that is scheduled to take place February 14-15, 2014 at Mesa Mountain View High School.

As the planning stages of summer wind down and we prepare to welcome back our transportation team members to a new school year with a new theme of focus, it is always a challenge to prepare material that is engaging, informative, CDL-, and Department of Public Safety (DPS)-related, safety focused, refresher applicable, covers new rules and laws, and keeps it fun for seasoned and new drivers, as well as at least one pessimistic team member in the group.

J.O. Combs Receives Certificate of Excellence Award for Second Year in a Row

Congratulations to the J.O. Combs Unified School District for receiving the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting award for the second year in a row.

The COE award is conferred to school systems that have met or exceeded the stringent standards of the COE criteria.

Congratulations to J.O. Combs Middle School students for their success in the 2014 Pinal County Scholastic Essay Contest.

The essay topic was “How Can STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Provide Water as a Sustainable Resource in Pinal County into the Future?” and was sponsored by San Tan Valley Think Tank, Central Arizona College, Office of the Pinal County Attorney, and Arizona SciTech Festival.

The J.O. Combs Middle School Student Council (STUCO) sponsored activities for the student body by hosting Respect Week during the week of December 8th. The activities began on Friday December 5th with a student anti-bullying assembly during the school day and a school dance in the evening. Students had an opportunity to participate in a variety of dress up days and take part in various activities.

On Saturday, November 17 students from the J.O. Combs Middle School National Junior Honor Society volunteered their time to sort and box up donated food items.

These items were collected during the Combs Middle School Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Donations were distributed to families in the Combs community in San Tan Valley.
