Don't Miss Out on Avoiding Late-Payment Penalties!

Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is advising taxpayers who paid their tax liability by paper check to be patient as the department processes the payment. In a recent statement, the department suggested waiting for 8-10 weeks before contacting them about an uncashed payment. In the meantime, taxpayers are advised to check with their financial institution to see if the payment has cleared their account.

The department has also reminded taxpayers that they will not incur late-payment penalties if the payment is postmarked by the due date. However, to ensure the payment is processed accurately and on time, taxpayers must provide the correct amount on the line and box, as well as the tax identification number and tax period they want the payment applied for in the check memo.

If taxpayers have already filed their returns but forgot to enclose the payment, they can still make the payment online by e-check or credit card. The payment can be made under "Make an Individual or Small Business Income Payment" and "140V."

It is important to note that taxpayers who plan to remit their payment separately should not send a paper copy of their return with their payment. Instead, they should include a completed Form 140V.

To avoid processing delays in the future, ADOR encourages taxpayers to make payments on AZTaxes.gov. Electronic payments can be scheduled for a later date and are free for e-check. Taxpayers are also reminded not to send a duplicate check electronically if a payment has already been mailed.

In a statement, ADOR said, "We understand that waiting for a payment to be processed can be frustrating, but we appreciate your patience as we work to ensure that all payments are processed accurately and efficiently. We encourage taxpayers to take advantage of our online payment options to avoid processing delays in the future.
