Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) is set to release new driver license and ID cards this March, which will have updated security features to prevent counterfeiting and fraudulent use. The new design, which showcases several Arizona features, is a result of a new contract with Thales Group. Thales was chosen through a competitive procurement process based on its ability to provide the latest security features on driver license and ID cards.
The new cards will be made of 100% polycarbonate material and consist of multiple layers of plastic that are fused together without adhesives to form a solid structure that is tamper-proof. The polycarbonate material also provides the longest lifespan of any card, allowing for extended card life without compromise. Other new features include laser-engraved information and black and white photo, "Dynaprint" technology that displays two high-resolution images based on the angle of the card, and a "Secure Surface" feature that incorporates a slightly raised surface to provide a subtle feel to part of the card, thus reducing potential alterations or fraudulent cards.SanTanValley.com is your #1 resource for anything in and around San Tan Valley, AZ.
