ADOT Adds Three New Specialty License Plates for 2025, Bringing Total to 109

Arizonans will have even more ways to support local nonprofits and show off their favorite causes on the road. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Motor Vehicle Division has introduced three new specialty license plates for 2025: Ovarian Cancer Awareness, Phoenix Mercury, and the Verde Valley Wine Trail.

With these additions, ADOT now offers 109 specialty license plate options, all of which can be viewed at azdot.gov/plates and ordered through azmvdnow.gov/plates.

"Specialty license plates offer a fun way to put that personal touch on a vehicle and show your proud support for one of these uniquely Arizona organizations," said MVD Director Eric Jorgensen. "MVD is pleased to offer the various plates that will have an impact for the organizations dedicated to helping Arizona and our communities."

Most specialty plates cost $25 per year, with $17 of that fee going directly to the designated nonprofit. Last fiscal year alone, specialty plate sales raised more than $14.5 million for causes across the state.

Below is a closer look at the new options:

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Plate

Open to all motorists, with a motorcycle version available, this plate directs $17 of its annual fee to programs that provide education, resources, and support for ovarian cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

"This plate is more than just a symbol – it's a powerful reminder of the strength and unity of our community working toward ending ovarian cancer," said Amy Cojanis of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. "Every plate on the road helps raise awareness for a disease that urgently needs it."

Phoenix Mercury Plate

Fans of the Phoenix Mercury can now show their pride wherever they drive. This plate—also available in a motorcycle format—supports the Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation, which focuses on strengthening and uniting Arizona communities through a variety of programs and resources.

"With the Mercury's first-ever specialty license plate, fans can now showcase their support for the team wherever they go," said Phoenix Mercury President Vince Kozar. "Each plate directly supports the Foundation and the communities it serves."

Verde Valley Wine Trail Plate

Designed to highlight the beauty of northern Arizona, this specialty plate supports the Verde Valley Wine Trail 501(c)(3). Funds help promote sustainable vineyard practices, responsible driving initiatives, and education for grape growers and wineries.

"The plate raises awareness, supports local nonprofits, and encourages water-friendly vineyard development," said Paula Woolsey, President of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium. "It also inspires more people to explore the region."

Specialty plates have been part of Arizona's transportation landscape since 1989. Each design is authorized by the legislature and reviewed by ADOT and law enforcement. Personalization is also available for an additional $25 per year.
