San Tan Valley Library: Hours, Location and How to Get a Card
A Pinal County library card is free to residents of the San Tan Valley area, and there are two kinds. They are not two ways to get the same card. One is faster. The other is the only one that lets you check out physical materials.
The San Tan Valley Library is at 31505 N. Schnepf Road, San Tan Valley 85140. The phone number is 520-866-8035.
Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is closed Sunday.
The Two Kinds of Library Card
A virtual card is free and you can get it entirely online. Apply through the Pinal County virtual library card application. Your barcode number arrives by email within two business days, and the physical card follows in the mail within three to seven business days.
A virtual card cannot be used to request or check out physical materials. No books, no DVDs. It opens the digital collection and your online account only.
A full library card has to be started in person at the branch. Bring a valid photo ID and a document showing your current mailing address. A piece of mail or a utility bill in your name satisfies the address requirement.
What the Card Gets You
One card works across the whole county system. That means every Pinal County Library District branch, plus the Central Arizona College libraries. The full list is at the bottom of this page.
Computer use and printing are free. You can search the catalog, place holds, renew items, and manage your account from home through the Pinal County Library District site, or through the district's mobile app for Android and iOS.
The catalog also makes recommendations based on what you have read, which SanTanValley.com covered when the new online catalog launched.
What Else Is at the Branch
The building offers public Wi-Fi, a public copier and printer, and full text research databases.
Meeting rooms can be reserved. The library also takes volunteers year round, including through Pinal County's Bright Futures Youth Internship Program, which placed two interns at the San Tan Valley branch this past summer.
Who Qualifies
Cards are free to Pinal County residents, and that includes the San Tan Valley area. Both the incorporated Town of San Tan Valley and the unincorporated portion of the area sit inside Pinal County, so residents in either one qualify on the same terms.
The San Tan Valley Library opened Aug. 10, 2021 as the first county operated public library in Pinal County.
Every Library Your Card Opens
A San Tan Valley library card is not just for the branch on Schnepf Road. The same card works at every Pinal County Library District location, and at the Central Arizona College libraries, including the San Tan campus.
