The story of a former Monson, Maine resident, Stacey M. Kananen, is featured on a new Investigation Discovery series, Catch My Killer, slated to air on March 3, 2013. She was found not guilty in Orlando, Florida, on March 12, 2010, of her mother’s murder. Kananen’s story — Fear of our Father-The True Story of Abuse, Murder and Family Ties — will be published by Berkley Books in June 2013. Fear of Our Father is co-authored by ocal San Tan Valley resident, Lisa Bonnice, an award-winning writer/producer for MSNBC.com.

Kananen was also featured in an Emmy-nominated BBC documentary, America’s Child Death Shame, by reporter Natalia Antelava.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is encouraging consumers to take actions to save toward financial goals during America Saves Week. FDIC Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg today said, “Saving money in a federally insured bank account is the safest way to build savings for emergencies or future dreams. PCSO Search and Rescue has a Busy Past 12 Hours

 

During the past 12 hours the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has been involved with three separate Search and Rescue missions. Two of the calls for help related to missing hikers have been resolved with the individuals being located. Search and Rescue members are still looking for the last remaining hiker.

 

The San Tan Valley Chamber’s General Membership Meeting is this Thursday, Feb 28th from 7:30am-9:00am at the SRP Service Center - 3735 E. Combs Rd., San Tan Valley, AZ 85140 - (South side of Combs, just east of Schnepf Rd).

CUSD Outstanding Service Awards Feb 2013

At Coolidge Unified School District’s February 13th regular Governing Board meeting, Outstanding Service Awards were presented to employees from West Elementary School and Hohokam Middle School.

Nellie Barboza, an Autism Teacher at West Elementary was not present, but was recognized for her outstanding work with students.

Car Wash for 18 month old Cambria

Cambria was a beautiful little 18 month baby girl, with a head full of curls.  She loved puppies and playing with anything that she could pretend would be a phone.  This past Tuesday however, her life was cut way too short, after she was found face down in a backyard pool and only hours later was passed away.

Family and friends are now rallying together to help raise money for the unexpected burial expenses to lay this little girl to rest.
