Candidates Pitch for Votes at Saturday Political Rally

by: Patty Garcia-Likens SRP

Candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the Arizona Corporation Commission, the Arizona Legislature and Maricopa County are scheduled to attend SRP PIC’s 2012 Political Picnic, a non-partisan event that is one of the state’s largest election-year rallies.  The old-fashioned political rally offers members of the print and broadcast media and SRP employees the opportunity to interview at one location many of the candidates for the Nov. 6 general election.

UPDATE: As of this morning, confirmed candidates for Saturday’s Political Picnic include U.S. Senate candidates Jeff Flake and Richard Carmona, congressional candidates Matt Salmon and Vernon Parker and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. Several candidates for the Arizona Legislature, the Arizona Corporation Commission and the Central Arizona Water Conservation District and other county and municipal offices have also indicated they will attend.

When: Saturday, Oct. 13, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at SRP’s PERA Club, 1 E. Continental Drive, Tempe.  Lunch will be served starting at 11:30 a.m.; the candidate program starts at noon.

Why: The picnic, which typically draws dozens of candidates and more than 600 SRP voters, family members and guests, provides a colorful setting in which SRP employees and guests can meet the candidates and learn more about ballot measures and election issues in an entertaining, family setting.
