Primary election, overlooked by some voters, can be very important in the outcome of elections. In some cases, races for an office are settled in the primary election. For example, if there are no candidates from the other party running, or if the other parties’ candidates are very weak opponents for the primary winner to face in the general election.
The last date to register to vote for the election is Monday, July 30.
Early ballots for the primary election will be sent out Thursday, Aug. 2. They can be returned to the Pinal County Elections Office any time after that as long as they are received by Election Day. They can also be taken to the polls on Election Day and turned in.
Early ballots will be sent out to voters according to which party they are registered with on their voter’s registration. Independents or “No party designated” voters should have received a card from the Recorder’s Office asking which ballot they prefer to vote and that ballot will be sent to them.
Early voting will be available in Apache Junction for both primary and general elections’ voters. Location will be the Pinal County Recorder’s Office at the Pinal County Complex, Idaho Road and Superstition Boulevard. The hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Early voting for the primary election is Thursday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 24.
