Verdugo Statement on the Supreme Court Decision on SB1070

“The Supreme Court’s decision today on SB1070 illustrates that we, as a nation, still have a long road ahead in resolving the issue of immigration.

But in Arizona, we must take the opportunity to create legislation that is progressive in a humanitarian approach and deals specifically with the economic needs of our state.

Exploring guest worker programs and other forward thinking measures are vital to Arizona's future.

However, it is imperative that we continue to fight against any legislation that allows discriminatory practices to become common place in our state.“
