A couple of years ago we were again victimized by a criminal who stole a credit card from inside our home and used it to run up several thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges. We discovered this crime on Christmas Eve, but Sheriff Babeu's office responded immediately, even on a holiday. They took a report within hours of our call, they quickly identified the perpetrator and had the person in custody the following afternoon. We were pleased at the response and concern from the sheriff's office, but that soon turned to disappointment when the perpetrator was sentenced to probation with no jail time. As I discussed my experience with others in my neighborhood and the local community, I realized that my experience was not uncommon, even when violent criminal acts were involved. I was shocked to learn that under the current county attorney over 60% of violent offenders in Pinal County receive no jail time. I am still at a loss as to how that can happen. In spite of Sheriff Babeu's exceptional efforts to arrest violent criminals, most of them serve no jail time and are instead free to continue victimizing people like us. The people of Pinal County deserve much better from the public servants whose salaries we pay. I recently met Lando Voyles, a candidate for Pinal County Attorney, and he clearly understands the importance of keeping violent offenders off our streets and away from our families. Mr. Voyles is an experienced prosecutor with a strong track record to back up his promises. That's what we need.
When I go to the polls on November 6, I'll be voting for Lando Voyles for Pinal County Attorney. He gets it.
