Upside down

by: Robert Ryden, Apache Junction

To last week’s writer who is choosing to display the flag upside down: the U.S. flag code states that “The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

I understand that you believe our current government policies are destructive. That is your right. However, the writers of the flag code certainly did not intend for the flag to be used to make a political statement in this way. If you want to make a political statement, be sure to vote next month.
