- PCSO now has a regional SWAT, Traffic and Narcotics Task Force.
- The Narcotics Task Force received the “Homeland Security Department’s Top Narcotic Investigation of the Year” award.
- The SWAT team competed and placed in a national SWAT competition.
- Fatal Collisions have been reduced and impaired driving arrests have skyrocketed.
- Sheriff Babeu was selected as the “National Sheriff of the Year” out of 3,000 sheriffs’ across America.
- Sheriff Babeu has been designated as one of the “Toughest Sheriff’s in America on illegal immigration.”
- He began an Explorer program for our youth and now we have the first ever, “National Explorer of the Year.”
- Emergency response times have been cut nearly in half.
- He has worked to clean up Pinal County Corruption which had been rampant for years.
- He started a GED program in the jail for inmates.
- The Adult Detention Center received its “National Accreditation” and was the first in Arizona to receive it and the first nationally to obtain a perfect score out of 594 standards.
- A PCSO Detention Officer was selected as the “Statewide Detention Office of the Year.”
- Sheriff Babeu was voted as the “Public Safety Leader of the Year” for Arizona.
- PCSO received a “Superior Financial Stewardship Award” through the Department of Defense.
- PCSO has set records for the highest narcotics seizures in its history.
- PCSO Communications was certified first in the state as a 9-1-1 partner for the “National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.”
- Sheriff Babeu is the first Sheriff to be selected as the “President of the Arizona Sheriff’s Association” for two years in a row.
- All members received new portable radio obtained through grants.
- All patrol deputies now have computers in their vehicles.
- First sheriff’s office to bring “Biometric Identification” to both patrol and detention.
- PCSO has had four members selected to attend the prestigious “FBI Leadership Academy” in which less than 1% of all administrators nationwide are able to attend.
- Expanded the Community of Patrol, Posse and other programs which have all saved Pinal County tax payer dollars.
- Obtained over 7 million dollars of grant or other supplemental funding/equipment for PCSO during each of the years he has served.
- PCSO Search and Rescue team has been recognized as one of the best in the state.
As you can see, Sheriff Babeu has done more for the Sheriff’s Office and for the residents of Pinal County than any other sheriff in history.
