Below is a press release from Johnson Utilities stating that  E. coli bacteria had been found in samples of water in the San Tan Valley area. Coolidge Unified School District has taken immediate precautionary measures to protect students and staff.

An article in the Southeast Valley Ledger dated August 3, 2012 stated that the Coolidge Unified School District was going out for an eight percent M & O (Maintenance and Operation) override, but in fact the District is asking for a ten percent M & O override.  Coolidge voters first approved an eight percent M & O override in 2004.  This override expired June 30, 2012.  With the reduction in students, the expiration of the override, and state reductions Coolidge Unified School District had to reduce the M & O budget for the 2012-2013 school year by $1,764,016. Dr. Cecilia Johnson, Superintendent of Coolidge Unified School District announced that Heartland Ranch Elementary School, West Elementary School, San Tan Heights Elementary School, Hohokam Middle School and Mountain Vista Middle School earned accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED.  This action was taken at the AdvancED Accreditation Commission meeting held in Washington DC on June 23, 2012.   Add a comment
