Dear District Parents and Families,

By now, most everyone has heard of the unthinkable massacre that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut last Friday. Whenever an event like this happens, we become more concerned about safety in our own neighborhoods. Please know that in Coolidge Unified School District we take safety very seriously. It is our number one priority.

Each school has a series of detailed emergency plans that have been rehearsed with staff and students on a regular basis, working closely with local emergency personnel. These plans include fire drills, lock downs, and evacuation drills. Emergency information is kept and is available for appropriate personnel, should an unlikely emergency arise. Add a comment

The following statement was provided by Dr. Cecilia Johnson, Superintendent of Coolidge Unified School District, regarding the recent election results:

The State Legislature has cut education funding 21.8% since 2008.  The Coolidge Unified School District M & O (Maintenance and Operations) Override is no longer in place and the voters did not approve the 10% override request at the November 6th election.  The 1 cent sales tax will expire in May 2013.
