Anthem K-8 combined a subtracting defense with an integer offense that multiplied the effect of a co-efficient drag on the opposition’s variables to edge intra-district rival Copper Basin K-8 for the 2012 Central Arizona College Superstition Mountain Campus Middle School Math Contest Championship.

Anthem claimed the 10-team event by capturing first place honors in the team competition, the individual event, and in the over school average, forging a 9-8 win over Copper Basin. J.O. Combs Middle School was third.

Dan and Susan, moved to San Tan Valley a couple years ago from Illinois.  They knew that they wanted to start a business out here, but finding the right place was a bit of a challenge.

They looked up in the East Valley initially, but both decided that if they could find something here, locally, it would be easier for them as they would always be just down the road if they were needed.

They looked at a location near the Walmart at Hunt and Gary; but never got a call back.  They looked at the new center across the street from Walmart, but size was an issue.  Then they spoke with the new owners of the Shops at Copper Basin (2510 E Hunt Hwy Suite #22).  After only a few conversations, the owners flew out from Texas to meet Dan and Susan and within a few months, Lavelle's Deli and Ice Cream was ready to open to the public.
