Today, Governor Doug Ducey delivered his 2017 State of the State address.

The theme of the speech is “Boundless Opportunity,” and it contains a new and exciting policy agenda focused on expanding opportunities for our state’s most vulnerable.

At roughly 5,150 words, the address is significantly longer than it was in 2015, which ran 2,893 words, and in 2016, which ran 3,576 words. So we wanted to offer an outlined version of State of the State for your convenience.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Aaron Blodgett and Matthew Blodgett pleaded guilty to 4 felony charges for their involvement in a craigslist employment and credit improvement scam. The Blodgett brothers each pleaded guilty to 1 count of Fraudulent Schemes & Artifices, 2 counts of Theft, and 1 count of Securities Fraud.

Arizona driver licenses and state identification cards are valid for air travel until Oct. 1, 2020.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is sharing that message with travelers who may be confused by new Transportation Security Administration placards posted at airports. These notices say that beginning on Jan. 28, 2018, travelers using a driver license or state ID for travel will need one from a state compliant with the federal REAL ID Act or a state with an extension for compliance.

Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan is pleased to announce that a significant group of valuable Arizona historical record collections, provided through a partnership with the Arizona State Archives and Ancestry.com, are now available on-line and free to residents of the state through www.Ancestry.com. This includes the Arizona territorial census records covering the years from 1864 through 1882.

Much of northern Arizona is expected to have a white Christmas this weekend with a foot of snow or more expected in some places and lesser amounts elsewhere in the region as a weather system crosses the state.

Health officials are trying to figure out what's causing a dramatic increase in child suicides in Arizona.

According to the latest numbers from the Arizona Child Fatality Review, suicides by children went up by 26 percent from 2014 to 2015.

Arizona will soon require public schools to teach cursive, part of a slate of new education standards approved by the state Board of Education Monday in its push to revise national guidelines known as Common Core.
