Central Arizona College anticipates welcoming new students and faculty from abroad.

Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, again will be sending a visiting professor to teach at CAC during this coming fall semester. Professor Hao Lixia, who is part of the English teaching faculty in the NEU Foreign Studies College, will arrive in time for the fall semester.

During her stay she will teach three courses at CAC:

  • CHI 101 Elementary Chinese – Monday through Thursday from 12-1:05 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus in room L-114, (5 credit transferable course), CRN 10724.
  • HUS 200 Chinese Culture and Society – Mondays from 6-8:45 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus in room L-114, CRN 11945.
  • CUL 110 Asian Cuisine, Thursdays from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 18-Nov. 8, CRN 11014.

Similar to previous NEU faculty and students who have come to CAC in the past, Hao’s visit provides the college community an excellent opportunity to learn about China, its culture and its people. In addition, Universidad Federal de Bahia in Brazil will be sending two students to CAC to study during the fall semester.

The two students were chosen to represent the Federal University of Bahia as part of the newly established CAC/UFBA faculty and student exchange program.

The students are Priscilla Caroline Veiga Leal de Mello, a social sciences major who speaks Portuguese, English and French, and Victor da Silvia Pinto, a production engineering major who speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, German and Romanian.

UFBA Professor Felippe Ramos, who recently taught at CAC as a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, said that Victor and Priscilla are “two really outstanding students with a strong sense of commitment and open minds. Their grades and academic achievements are remarkable and they already have traveled abroad in other opportunities. They are eager about American culture and to get a closer look at what Arizona has to offer.”
