Two Central Arizona College professors present at international conference

by: Tom DiCamillo

Central Arizona College professors Sue Warner (sociology) and Debbie Foster (speech communication) presented at the Community Colleges for International Development’s (CCID) 36th Annual Conference.

The event was held Feb. 24-27 in New Orleans.

Warner and Foster joined Felipe Ramos, a recent Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Central Arizona College, in a presentation about CAC’s international exchange agreement with Universidad Federal de Bahia in Brazil.

Their session, entitled The Story of Our Partnership, gave the scholars the opportunity to present the CAC/UFDB multi-faceted exchange agreement to an international audience.

The discussion included not only teacher and student exchanges, but also the interaction between students at both colleges through distance learning and technologically-enhanced instruction.

According to CCID, the organization annually offers the only international conference in the world dedicated specifically to the internationalization and global advancement of the community college model.

As such, the presentation made by Warner, Foster and Ramos allowed the college to share its international processes and progress with a vast network of professionals from around the country and the world.

The mission of CCID is to provide opportunities for building global relationships that strengthen educational programs, and promote economic development.
