The Power

by: Stephanie Lynn Keefe

I wrote this piece several years ago when I was working with alcoholics and drug addicts.  I read it at an open forum and received many tears and praise.  After reading it again years later I still believe in The Power.  You need not be suffering from an addiction or mental illness to get and feel my words.  I hope to reach the readers on many different levels and wish to release The Power within yourselves.

The power to shine comes as a subliminal message, directly handed down by the Powers That Be. The power to glow, to let yourself go with the flow, comes from deep within yourself. The power to alleviate stress and feel again, is a learning curve . . . a force to be reckoned with. The power to set yourself free, comes from your innermost positive energies. Trust in your own personal and private evolution which simply consists of one full, healthy and loving revolution. Look into my eyes and evidence what resides within. Feel unto my heart and realize the Power of myself. The enormity of truth & strength. Gaze up at the twinkling stars and let them water your being, unconditionally. Grab hold of my mind and clear your own so that you too may understand the Power. Seize the moments when I open up to you and respectfully ask for your advice. Grieve like there is no tomorrow, however, do not let grief over power you. Cry the tears that simply escape your eyes when no one else is expecting them. Let the salt wet your lips and cherish the taste eternally. Dance a rain dance even if you receive thunder. Ask, do not beg, for forgiveness if you know you are in need. Rely on no one but yourself, as you are the only one in control of your destiny. Listen to your very own private predetermined fate, where egos do not exist. Breathe with fervor. Sleep in peace. Awaken as though you cannot wait for the next challenge. Dance as though it may be the last steps you ever take. Understand the power without squinting and quizzing. Let it in. Bask in the sunshine when given the Goddesses blessing. Make snow angels until your ass is on fire from the frigid goodness of nature. Give into temptation, without remorse or hesitation, however, please don't make it habit, for that habit could prevent you from moving forward. Choose your words wisely, for once they slip your lips, there is no taking them back, ever. Feel free to love yourself. You are genuinely unique. Win with pride then Ride the Power. The Power called Life. The Power called Inner Peace.

I moved to San Tan Valley from Cape Cod, Massachusetts at the end of October, 2010.  I married on Valentine's day of 2011 and have begun a whole new chapter of life.  Since moving here I have had to juggle marriage, kids and the atmospheric changes and environment.  I love to horseback ride, write, read, hike, take photos and meet new people.
