Arizona homeowners should be on the lookout for a mailing that appears to be a legal document, but may be a ploy against mortgage consumers, Attorney General Tom Horne said today.

The mailing comes in an envelope that appears to be an official legal or government document, but there is no company name or return address on the envelope or the letter itself.  A call to the toll-free number in the letter reveals the company as Fresh Start, based in New York.

The Arizona Supreme Court has denied a petition by the Navajo Nation to review a lower court ruling affirming that an almost 3-year-old Navajo child should continue living in his non-tribal adoptive home, Attorney General Tom Horne said today.

Attorney General Tom Horne has obtained a Consent Judgment against a Phoenix area firearms company, to settle allegations that the firm violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act by not providing promised services and goods to multiple paying customers.

In a lawsuit filed in December 2011, the State alleged Lancaster Arms, LLC failed to provide consumers with promised merchandise and services for which it accepted advance payments and subsequently failed to provide refunds to those consumers and, in some cases, failed to return the consumer’s unassembled weapon kits to them.

Tom Horne, Arizona Attorney General, announced today that he has persuaded the U.S. Supreme Court to take review of Arizona’s Voter Integrity case. Previously, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled that Arizona would not be permitted to ask people for evidence that they are citizens when they register to vote.
